Scenic Diamond Club Members Wendy and Graeme Black have been exploring the world with Scenic for more than a decade. From the cherry blossoms of Japan to the snowy peaks of Switzerland and the winding rivers of Europe, they have created a lifetime of memories – and still have many more journeys planned for future years.
Wendy and Graeme still vividly remember their first Scenic journey. The couple started with a London Extension before joining the Jewels of Europe river cruise.
Their tour coincided with one of London’s most famous annual events. “During our stay in London, we went to the Chelsea Flower Show on a Scenic Freechoice excursion,” says Wendy.
This was a dream come true for the both of us, especially coming from Australia. If you can ever attend this iconic flower show, we would highly recommend it. What an array of colour, plants and garden designs!”

The Blacks have collected stories for life across the globe, having spent more than 100 days travelling with Scenic. A few special stories stand out.
“One of our amazing memories was when we did our Japan land tour. It was late March to early April, so we were expecting cherry blossomsblossoms, and we did see them for the whole two weeks while travelling from Fukuoka to Tokyo,” says Wendy.
“What we did not expect was for it to be snowing in the mountains at that time of the year. We were lucky enough to see snow on cherry blossoms. This was very unusual and even our guide said she hadn’t seen this in her lifetime.”
The couple also treasure the Scenic Enrich Gala Dinner at Prasat Kravan temple in Cambodia and an unforgettable visit to Monet’s Garden in Giverny.

With a world of choices, Wendy and Graeme continue to travel with Scenic, with the 13-day Ultimate Tasmania land journey booked for October this year. So what keeps them coming back?
“After our children left home, we decided to start travelling beyond Australia. Ever since, we have done a trip with Scenic every year,” Wendy shares. “We like the fantastic itineraries, the all-inclusive experiences (especially on river cruises), helpful staff from the time you arrive at your destination, excellent transfers and value for money.”
They also have some tips for first timers. “Read your itinerary thoroughly before booking – check the brochure and the website.”
On a recent journey, Wendy discovered an additional Scenic Freechoice excursion was available before a trip, which was a welcome surprise. “And go with the flow and be flexible. Scenic are the experts.”
