South Georgia

The South Georgia Islands are teeming with wildlife and has as much biodiversity as the famous Galápagos Islands. Researchers have discovered over 1,445 marine species living in the coastal waters. The prominent species are the penguin populations along South Georgia’s shores, while 90 percent of the world’s fur seals call the island home, as do about half of the Earth’s population of elephant seals.

Travel during the summer solstice and encounter plenty of newborn wildlife and long daylight hours, giving you more time to explore the natural wonders. While at the end of February and into March there is a staggering amount of whales, seals, birds and penguins on display as they prepare for the annual migration north.
