SCENIC ECLIPSE FIRST SAILING DATE AMENDED


In a statement released today, Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours announced that the first sailing date for Scenic Eclipse, the World’s First Discovery Yacht, has been amended to 13 April 2019.

Due to the continuing financial issues at Uljanik shipyard and the resultant strike by specialist engine and systems commissioning workers, this part of the ships completion has been delayed.

Scenic has been in constant contact with the shipyard, workers representatives and the Government to ensure the completion of the ship as soon as possible, due to those efforts, more than 600 workers that are still on board each week day. The progress on the ship’s interiors and other areas of the final build stage have seen far less impact from the industrial action, and continue to progress at good pace.

The specialist commissioning team returned to work progressively last week however it will not be possible to catch up the now almost six weeks’ time lost due to strikes in this area.

Scenic acknowledges the regrettable impact this has on guests and understands their disappointment at this change in sailing date.

Scenic has committed to providing guests a full refund for the cost of their Scenic Eclipse cruise and consideration of any other reasonable associated costs incurred with their travel plans. In addition, Scenic will provide all guests who rebook a Scenic Eclipse voyage a future cruise credit to the value of 25% of the cost of their rebooked cruise.

Scenic has established a dedicated phone number for guests, and has begun reaching out to all guests and travel agents to provide details on the process of refunding, and offering an opportunity to apply the 25% discount to other voyages.

How do we contact you in regards to our sailing?

We have set up a dedicated phone number and email address so that guests can contact us directly. Our phone number is 1300 569 258 and email address is eclipse.guest@scenic.com.au. Our contact centre is opened from 8am to 6pm M-F and 9am-1pm Saturday. At times of high call volumes you will have the option of requesting us to call you back, or please use email.

How do I apply for my refund?

 
A.

For bookings through your travel agent, we will email your agent with a request form for the bank account for refunds. For guests with bookings directly with us, we will call and email you with a request for the appropriate bank account details. Once we receive the instructions form you we anticipate to have the funds deposited into the account within 3 business days.

What does third party costs mean?

 
A.

We will assess any third party costs that you have incurred due to the cancellation of your Scenic Eclipse voyage. These may be airline change fees for changing or cancelling your booked flights, pre-booked accommodation cancellation fees or other touring that you had already secured and will now not undertake. Third party costs will not include the costs for new bookings that you may subsequently make.

Will you cover my travel insurance policy costs?

 
A.

Unused Travel Insurance policies may be able to be refunded by your provider, if there is a policy cancellation fee we will also provide reimbursement for that fee. We are unfortunately unable to provide any refund for insurance that was provided as a supplementary service such as a policy provide you’re your credit card company.

What products does the future cruise discount apply to?

 
A.

The future cruise discount is available to be used on any new Scenic Eclipse voyage, sailing until August 2020 or any Scenic European or Asian River Cruise departing prior to Dec 31st 2019. To assist you with considering the use of your discount it is best that we discuss the options with your or your travel agent.

When do I need to use my discount by?

 
A.

Guests will be asked to make their new booking by 31 March 2019 to be eligible for the discounts on offer.
