Moving Views

From the panoramic windows of your Scenic Space-Ship, gentle bends in the waterways of Europe reveal new wonders around every corner.

The twinkling lights of Budapest are working their magic as we pull up on the banks of the Danube to embark on the first night of our voyage through Europe to Amsterdam, 15 days away. The city’s illuminated chain bridge and magnificent Parliament building preside over the scene, casting their lights into the river that divides the Hungarian capital - giving our departure a magical backdrop.

In the coming days we’ll cruise along the mighty Danube, Main and Rhine rivers seeing both capital cities and historic villages in Slovakia, Austria, Germany and on to the Netherlands. We’ll cruise under ancient bridges, take photos from hilltop castles, marvel at still-standing half-timber houses, shop in candy-coloured hillside towns and cycle pretty riverbank parks.

Ever-changing views from the river and exclusive experiences on land will fill each day, gliding from town to town in five-star, all-inclusive luxury on board our Scenic Space-Ship.

Our days on shore offer one-of-a-kind experiences arranged exclusively for Scenic guests, such as the private concert in the grand ballroom of 17th century Baroque mansion, the Palais Liechtenstein, in Vienna.

With the music of Strauss and Mozart filling the splendid gilt-edged rooms of the Palais, we are treated to a performance of classical dancers as we sip our Sekt. In Germany’s Rhineland we visit the ancient fortress of Marksburg Castle, perched high above the town of Braubach. Complete with a fairy-tale style tower and suits of armour, the 13th century castle is one of the main sites of the World Heritage Rhine Gorge.

From the water, it’s hard to beat the scenery along the stretch of the Danube that cuts through the picturesque Wachhau Valley. Steep terraced vineyards tumble all the way down to pretty hamlets set on narrow strips of land skirting the river – an unforgettable vista to go with our Scenic Sundowners. Though much of the focus on shore is on Europe’s fascinating history, on board, the conveniences of the modern world are never far away. As we sail past 1,000 year-old churches, in our luxury suites we enjoy Wi-Fi, email enabled smart TVs and personal GPS devices.

With a staff to guest ratio of just one to three, a butler service for all and even the opportunity to shop with our on board chef in Vienna, the personal touches are built into each day’s experiences. Though our Space-Ship has a Bulgarian captain, a French cruise director and a Serbian hotel manager, the ship’s Australian heritage is obvious. An Aussie power point is in each cabin, there's Bundy rum behind the bar and no-one has to worry about going without their Vegemite at breakfast. This is Jewels of Europe with a special touch of home.
