The magical wonders of Christmas

Enjoy a Christmas and New Year unlike any other when you immerse yourself in the grand traditions of Europe’s waterway region or indulge in a Canadian Rockies yuletide with all the trimmings.

Scenic has launched its Magical Wonders of Christmas in Europe and Canada brochure which includes a number of festive cruises and land tours for anyone wanting to experience a European winter or seeking an enchanting white Canadian Christmas next year, including two new Canadian itineraries.

Sail Europe’s grand waterways on a 15 Day Christmas Markets River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam on 30 November and shop for handmade gifts and decorations in the traditional markets of Vienna, Rothenberg, Nuremberg and Cologne - home to the largest Christmas tree in Germany.

For anyone wanting to spend Christmas Day in Europe; soak up the festive atmosphere on board a Scenic Space-Ship on a 16 Day Christmas Wonderland from Amsterdam to Budapest, departing 14 December.

Celebrate Christmas Day in the city of Dürnstein in Austria and enjoy traditional Christmas dishes and midnight mass. Guests can also choose to extend their stay and ring in the New Year with a three night extension in Prague.

Enjoy a traditional white Christmas in the Canadian mountains on Scenic’s Christmas in the Rockies itinerary.

Begin your journey in Victoria or Vancouver, enjoy one night aboard the ‘Snow Train’ from Vancouver to Jasper, and choose to celebrate Christmas with a traditional Christmas Day brunch and dinner at the Fairmont Banff Springs or at the majestic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Guests can now choose to extend their Canadian adventure with a 5 Day Northern Lights Spectacular in Whitehorse, Yukon. Staying at the Northern Lights Resort & Spa, enjoy the magical Northern Lights.

Also new for 2017 - 17 Day Winter Wonders from Calgary to Vancouver, to explore Canada’s West in the throes of winter. See Banff National Park, Lake Louise and the outdoor playground that is Jasper National Park plus head north to Yukon to witness the Northern Lights.

Aleisha Fittler, GM Journey Design, commented: “Christmas and New Year continue to be a popular time for people to travel and we are seeing multiple generations travelling with us at Christmas which is lovely. One of the main reasons seems to be that they can completely relax and not have to worry about anything at what is often a really busy time of year. We hope the new additions to our Canada program will appeal to those wanting to experience a Canadian winter but not necessarily be away from home at this special time of year.”

For anyone wanting a warmer Christmas, the 13 Day Treasures of the Mekong departs 17 and 23 December. The 14 Day Mystical Irrawaddy departs 16 December 2017.
