New 2018/2019 Africa Highlights

Tour Director Rikus Visser reveals some exciting new inclusions for this must-see continent.

The Table Bay Hotel, Cape Town

This 5-star hotel is located on one of the most beautiful waterfronts in the world, home to buzzing restaurants and high-end shops. All the rooms have spectacular sea views towards Table Bay and Robben Island, and the service is just what you’d expect from a top-class hotel.

Soak in the spa or outdoor heated pool in between sightseeing and, in the evenings, enjoy live classical music in the open-plan lounge as you sip on a glass of bubbly.

Fly direct from Victoria Falls to Kenya

In the past, we had to fly from Victoria Falls south to Johannesburg for a night before heading to Nairobi.

Now, Kenya Airways has introduced a direct flight to Nairobi four days a week.

This means guests can enjoy the opulent, old-world Victoria Falls Hotel for longer, and not have to detour to Johannesburg.

Lion Sands River Lodge, Kruger National Park

The newly rebuilt lodge on the banks of the Sabie River is a luxurious sanctuary. In the evenings, you are welcomed back from an exhilarating safari in Big Five territory for dinner in a superb glass panelled restaurant with a mouthwatering menu.

Afterwards, you can retreat to your 5-star suite complete with fully stocked mini-bar, a large luxurious bathroom, and a balcony where you can soak up the serenity of the African bush.

Nairobi Giraffe Centre, Nairobi

On the outskirts of Nairobi, wild giraffes feel comfortable enough to graze on the acacia canopies. It is here where they trust humans enough to come and feed from your hand.

Watch in wonder as these gentle giants bend down from a five-metre height and ever-so-softly lick pellets from your hand.

For a second, you can drown yourself in the pool of their dark, sparkling eye

Karen Blixen House, Nairobi

The African bush touches one’s soul long after you have left the continent.

Danish author Karen Blixen fell under Africa’s spell and wrote the best-selling book ‘Out of Africa’.

You’ll visit the home set in beautiful gardens where Karen entertained friends, dignitaries and famous visitors with her incredible skill of weaving African stories, leaving her audience wanting more.

Tea at Kiambethu Farm, Nairobi

Kenya is the world’s largest tea exporter. You’ll visit the historic farm of AB McDonell, the first person to grow, make and sell tea commercially in Kenya.

He bought the farm in 1910 – five generations later the farm is still in the same family.

You’ll enjoy a sumptuous lunch surrounded by acres of tea and indigenous forests. You might even spot some colobus monkeys.

Oyster Box Hotel, Durban

This grand hotel lies in a picture postcard setting on beautiful golden beaches, each individually decorated bedroom has a private balcony overlooking the sparkling ocean.

Instead of a one night stay, Scenic takes a mid-tour break here, allowing you to relax, absorb the elegant surroundings and luxurious service, and feast on oysters and champagne.

You can also enjoy a decadent high tea followed by a narration on the Anglo Zulu wars.

31 day Ultimate African Expedition

Cape Town > Nairobi

In exploring Southern and East Africa on this journey, you’ll encounter many of its most awe-inspiring landmarks. View the sublime Table Mountain, even more spectacular if you’re fortunate enough to see it when clouds are draping gently over it.

Marvel at breathtaking Victoria Falls, where white rapids plunge a hundred metres into the waters below.

Explore the continent’s greatest national parks – Kruger, Chobe, the Masai Mara and Amboseli – and visit tribal villages where you’ll meet people and cultures pivotal to the region and its history.

23 day Grand African Safari
