    With its many splendid churches, imposing fortress towns, and the rugged natural scenery that still dominates the vast open countryside, a trip to Dalmatia is a unique opportunity to appreciate some of the magnificence that has been lost elsewhere. From seaside communities like Opatija to ancient walled towns like Dubrovnik, you’ll find wonder aplenty.

  • 12 Day Itinerary

    • Day 1 - Venice

      As you arrive into Venice, cruise up the Grand Canal by private motor launch past ornate and gilded palazzos and Palladian churches to your superbly located Special Stay hotel, where you’ll enjoy a two night stay. Tonight join your fellow guests for a welcome drink with your Tour Director.

    • Day 2 - Venice

      Appreciate the wealth and power that pervaded this city state in times past during your walking tour of the city, which includes a visit to the Basilica of San Marco.


      Ensconced in the romance of this city, enjoy a gondola ride and glide under ancient bridges amongst magnificently beautiful canals. What could be more idyllic?

      Tonight, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at a local restaurant.

    • Day 3 - Venice > Opatija

      As you leave Italy behind you’ll journey to Slovenia and visit its greatest tourist site – the Karst Caves at Postojna. Continue to the Croatian seaside town of Opatija, your base for the next two nights.

    • Day 4 - Rovinj > Pula > Opatija

      Today you’ll visit the historic towns of Rovinj and Pula. Visit Rovinj where you’ll be introduced to the history and attractions of this charming town during a walking tour. Then, visit a local farm and learn about everyday life in Croatia, while tasting some of the sumptuous local produce. Pula is known for its mild climate and is home to many ancient Roman buildings, including the well-preserved Roman Pula Arena, which you’ll visit.

    • Day 5 - Opatija > Split

      Today, drive into the very heart of Dalmatia to the city of Split, beautifully set against the Adriatic Sea. Enjoy an overnight stay.

    • Day 6 - Split > Dubrovnik

      This morning our expert guide, will reveal the ruins of the massive Imperial Palace of Diocletian, constructed from 293AD. You’ll also visit the church which is thought to be the oldest in the world and is still used for services today. This afternoon, leave Split behind and journey along the Mediterranean coast to Dubrovnik. Check into your hotel for your three night stay.

    • Day 7 - Dubrovnik

      The walled Old Town of Dubrovnik is a World Heritage-listed Site and has remained largely unchanged since medieval times. Take a guided walking tour and get to marvel at Onofrio’s Fountain, and visit the Rector’s Palace.


      Tonight, choose to dine at one of three superb local restaurants.

    • Day 8 - Dubrovnik

      Let your local guide show you the best views of the city with an active walking tour of Dubrovnik’s medieval ramparts. Alternatively, leave Croatia behind and take a full day excursion to the neighbouring country of Montenegro. You’ll have an opportunity to discover one of the smallest Balkan countries, with its rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline.

    • Day 9 - Dubrovnik > Plitvice

      Travel inland and enjoy the astonishing natural scenery of the Balkans, heading towards the World Heritage-listed Plitvice National Park. Tonight you’ll stay in the heart of Plitvice, set in a beautiful natural setting.

    • Day 10 - Plitvice > Ljubljana

      This morning, tour the world famous and the World Heritage-listed Plitvice National Park. Wander along meandering pathways to view a series of emerald green lakes, stepped and linked by increasingly impressive waterfalls. Your next stop is Slovenia and its lively capital Ljubljana, where you’ll enjoy two nights.

    • Day 11 - Ljubljana

      Start your day with a guided tour of Ljubljana, seeing the Opera House, National Museum, Franciscan Church and St. Nicholas Cathedral.


      Step back in time and take a traditional Pletna boat to the beautiful island sitting in the middle of Lake Bled. You’ll get to visit the historic Church of St Mary with its famous wishing well, and you can even ring the bell for good luck.

    • Day 12 - Budapest

      This afternoon, embrace the beautiful and historic city of Budapest. You journey concludes upon arrival in Budapest. Please schedule onward flight from Budapest to be after5 pm.
