    These nine days offer an exclusive opportunity for Scenic guests to seek out two of the most exciting and powerful creatures on Earth.

    Journey first to Campbell River and then on to Knight Inlet, one of the best places to discover bears in their natural habitat. With amenities and guides available to get you as close to the action as possible it will be an unforgettable experience. From there you’ll head into the vast interior of Manitoba and arrive in Churchill. Churchill is one of the few human settlements where polar bears can be observed in the wild. You’ll have three nights to observe these magnificent creatures, as well as exploring the tundra and experiencing an authentic dog sledding adventure. It may only be nine days, but the memories will last a lifetime.

  • 9 Day Itinerary

    • Day 1 - Vancouver > Campbell River

      The ultimate bear adventure awaits as you board your flight from Vancouver to Campbell River, situated on the east coast of Vancouver Island. After checking into the Comfort Inn & Suites for the night, explore the town and get a taste of the wonders in store as you stroll along Discovery Pier and look out over the views of Discovery Passage, Quadra Island and the Coast Mountain Range on British Columbia’s mainland.

    • Day 2 - Campbell River > Knight Inlet

      Board a floatplane and marvel at the magnificent views on your way to Glendale Cove, Knight Inlet, home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly bears in British Columbia. Your cosy floating lodge for the next two nights, Knight Inlet Lodge, is exclusive to Scenic. Venture up the estuary through shallow tidal waters in search of these impressive and awe-inducing creatures. Meanwhile, magnificent bald eagles soar above you or perch eagerly along the shore. Photo opportunities abound. Later, enjoy lunch at the lodge before a second bear viewing tour and a sightseeing cruise, taking in the natural wonders of Knight Inlet. Be captivated by tremendous waterfalls plummeting out of sheer rock faces, ancient glaciers with trails carving through the mountains, and wild and forlorn rivers teeming with life. Make sure you keep an eye out for other wildlife in the area, such as seals, sea lions and dolphins. Evenings at the lodge are the perfect end to an amazing day, where you can relax and catch up with your fellow adventurers to share the day’s highlights over a sumptuous dinner with included wine. Feel free to join the evening’s interpretive presentation to learn even more about the wondrous animals you’ve come across today.

    • Day 3 - Knight Inlet

      Today, you may choose to venture out on a guided walk, or take a guided tracking tour – a superb opportunity to learn more about bear habitat. There are more bear viewing opportunities before dinner so you’re sure to get plenty of amazing photos. This evening enjoy your delicious dinner at the lodge with your fellow adventurers, and celebrate your exploits so far over included wine with dinner.

    • Day 4 - Knight Inlet > Winnipeg

      Today, you get one more opportunity to view the captivating grizzly bears before your floatplane flight to Campbell River. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Vancouver and on to Winnipeg, where you’ll overnight at the Four Points Sheraton Airport Hotel. Flight not included in the tour price

    • Day 5 - Winnipeg > Churchill

      Even more wonder awaits as you board your charter flight this morning to Churchill, the polar bear capital of the world and the perfect place to witness these amazing creatures in their natural environment. Enjoy a tour of the town, situated on the banks of Hudson Bay, including Cape Merry, Port of Churchill, Manitoba Conservation’s Polar Bear Holding Facility (weather permitting) and the Eskimo Museum. Tonight, you’ll be treated to a slide presentation by an acclaimed local photographer showcasing Churchill’s natural splendour in all seasons. For the next three nights you’ll be based in a Churchill hotel.

    • Day 6 - Tundra Buggy Experience

      View majestic polar bears and other arctic marine life from your purpose-built Tundra Buggy, which will allow you to move freely to view and photograph these magnificent creatures. Your naturalist guide will provide insights into the environment you’re entering and the array of wildlife you’re likely to see, such as snow ptarmigans, Arctic hares, and perhaps even gyrfalcons. You may have the opportunity to observe the behaviour of the polar bears as they interact with each other – mothers displaying protective behaviour over their cubs, and males engaging in their sparring rituals.

    • Day 7 - Dog Sledding

      Experience a thrilling dog sled adventure with a local dog sledding expert. Learn about dog sledding history within northern Canada before enjoying an exhilarating ride behind a strong team of Siberian Huskies on a custom made sled (or cart, weather permitting). Join the mushers for hot chocolate and bannock, a tasty First Nations delicacy, and share their intriguing personal stories of their dog sledding adventures. This afternoon, visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre to learn more about the tundra and its spectacular wildlife, and journey back in time with detailed wildlife dioramas and fur trade exhibits.

    • Day 8 - Tundra Buggy Experience > Winnipeg

      Explore the tundra of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area further today, keeping an eye out for wildlife and of course, one last glimpse of the awe-inspiring polar bears. Later, board your return flight to Winnipeg and stay overnight at Four Points Sheraton Airport Hotel.

      Sadly, your great bear adventure must come to an end. The memories of this truly amazing experience however, will last a lifetime. Depart Winnipeg for your onward flight.
