    Discover Japan’s ancient history, tradition and religious beliefs which still exist side by side with the industrial might and unique cultural quirks that characterise modern Japan.   • 14 Day Itinerary

    • Day 1 - Fukuoka

      This evening enjoy your welcome reception at your hotel in Fukuoka, your luxury accommodation for the next two nights.

    • Day 2 - Fukuoka

      Visit Shofuku-ji, the oldest Zen Temple in Japan and the sixth century Kushida Shrine located in the ancient section of the city. Next, wander through the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum where you can witness first-hand the prestigious Hakata-ori woven textile being made.


      Shop to your heart’s content at Canal City or visit Maizuru Park and the castle ruins located within before enjoying the view from Fukuoka Tower.

    • Day 3 - Fukuoka > Nagasaki

      Drive through the countryside of Kyushu to Nagasaki, stopping at the pottery villages of Arita and Imari enroute. In Nagasaki relax at your hotel for a two night stay.

    • Day 4 - Nagasaki

      Over time, Nagasaki’s growth has been shaped by many diverse foreign powers.


      Explore the footprint of Christianity left by European powers. Alternatively, visit Peace Park and the Atomic Bomb Museum and reflect on a more tragic and modern notoriety.

      Later, venture by cable car to the top of Mt Inasa and take in the sweeping vista of the city.

    • Day 5 - Nagasaki > Hiroshima

      Travel by Shinkansen train to Hiroshima and experience an emotional visit to Hiroshima’s Peace Park. Tonight, sample Okonomiyaki, a delicious Japanese-style pancake, a speciality of the region. You’ll enjoy two restful nights in Hiroshima.

    • Day 6 - Hiroshima

      See industrial robots perform around the Mazda factory. Later sail by ferry to Miyajima Island to visit Daisho-in Temple and the floating sixth century Torii Gate at the Itsukushima Shrine.

    • Day 7 - Hiroshima > Kyoto

      Today, travel by Shinkansen to Himeji and marvel at Himeji Castle before continuing to Kyoto, home to many World Heritage-listed Sites. Tonight you’ll begin a memorable three night stay in Kyoto.

    • Day 8 - Kyoto

      Revel in the atmosphere of the ancient preservation districts of Kyoto or stroll along the Philosopher’s Walk, especially beautiful during blossom season. Alternatively visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine, featured in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha and marvel at the architecture of the Nijo Castle, a classic reminder of the Edo-period shogunate.

      Later, after enjoying an afternoon in your own time, wander through the historic Gion District and witness a Kyomai traditional dance performance.


      Continuing your Gion experience tonight’s dinner will allow you to interact with a Maiko, an apprentice Geisha, who’ll host your meal presentation. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn about what is involved in becoming a Geisha.

    • Day 9 - Kyoto > Nara

      Enjoy an excursion to Nara, where you’ll visit Todaiji Temple and see deer in Nara Park. You’ll stop for some a sake tasting and visit to a sake museum before enjoying the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.

      Ryokan Upgrade - Choose to stay tonight in a Ryokan, a traditional Japanese Inn with futon beds and private facilities including dinner and breakfast.

    • Day 10 - Kyoto > Tokyo

      Today, visit the Kinkaku-ji or Golden Pavilion and wander the classical Zen Garden at Ryoanji Temple.


      Dressed in traditional Japanese kimono, you’ll get to learn about the Japanese tea ceremony, and enjoy a bento box lunch.

      Travel by Shinakansen to your hotel in Tokyo, your wonderful Special Stay for the next four nights.

    • Day 11 - Tokyo

      Today, explore Yananka with its fascinating historic buildings. Also visit the Asakusa district, paying your respects at Sensoji, the city’s oldest Buddhist temple and enjoy a cruise along the Sumida River.


      Head to west Tokyo. Here you have an opportunity to either visit the Imperial Shinto Meiji Shrine, before you stroll along the architectural showcase of Omotesando Walk, and shopping in the Shibuya District, or relax in picturesque Shinjuku-Gyoen Gardens before shopping in Shinjuku entertainment district. Alternatively, use the time for some private shopping or rest.


      This evening, take in the bright lights of Tokyo during your dinner cruise on a yakabutane, an old fashioned houseboat, on Tokyo Bay.

    • Day 12 - Tokyo > Fuji Five Lakes

      Venture deep into the countryside, where you can drink in the stunning scenery on your drive to Lake Ashinoko for a serene cruise on the water, with glorious Mt Fuji as your backdrop. Later, discover the incredible workmanship involved in creating kimonos at the Itchiku Kubota Art Museum while learning about their fascinating 300-year-old-technique.

      Immerse yourself in Japanese cuisine with the help of a local chef, as you prepare your own sushi lunch and eat it.
