    From Mandalay to Yangon the sublime Irrawaddy River and equally enchanting landscape of Myanmar will accompany you on this adventure of a lifetime. Only recently opened to western travellers, this land of deep spirituality and spectacular treasures will entrance and delight.

    The Scenic Aura will be your all-inclusive luxurious home-away-from-home. Experience traditional river village life in Schwe Pyi Thar, let the awe of Bagan wash over you and explore the colonial relics of Thayetmyo before arriving in the bustling capital of Yangon. The city offers up many surprises including a thriving arts scene and the spectacular Sule Pagoda. As the sun sets on an incredible experience you’ll take part in a traditional oil lamp lighting ceremony, an uplifting and magical way to conclude your time in this mystical land.

  • 14 Day Itinerary

    • Day 1 - Arrive Mandalay

      On arrival you will be met by your Scenic representative and transferred* to your hotel. Meet your Tour Director for a welcome briefing followed by a trip to the top of Mandalay Hill. (Flights must arrive prior to 3pm).

    • Day 2 - Mandalay > Irrawaddy Cruise

      During your visit to a gold leaf workshop, learn how to produce gold leaf. After continuing on to Mahamuni Pagoda, male guests will be able to place the gold leaf on one of the iconic Buddha statues.

      Marvel at the intricate artistry on display at Shwenandaw, a beautiful wooden monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the ‘World’s Largest Book’.

      Embark on the Scenic Aura and enjoy tonight’s welcome reception.

    • Day 3 - Mingun > Mandalay > Amarapura

      Cruise to Mingun to discover the stories behind a massive unfinished brick pagoda. Nearby, admire the uncracked Mingun Bell and the all-white Hsinbyume Pagoda.


      Enjoy an evening drink in boats under U-Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge, to capture that memorable photo of the bridge at sunset.

    • Day 4 - Sagaing > Inwa (Ava)

      Stop at the ancient capitals of Sagaing and Inwa.


      During a special visit to Monastic Education School in Sagaing, you will be invited to donate a gift to the resident nuns. Enjoy a freshly prepared lunch with them and learn more about the Buddhist religion in Myanmar.

      Later by horse and cart, explore Inwa, the capital of the Ava Kingdom for more than 400 years. Visit a 200-year-old teak monastery and the leaning Inwa Tower.

    • Day 5 - Myinmu > Monywa

      Sail into Myinmu and begin your road journey to Monywa to explore the sandstone grottoes decorated with spectacular mural paintings and hundreds of Buddha statues inside niches. Visit the extraordinary Hpowindaugn Caves. Return to the ship and cruise slowly downstream.

    • Day 6 - Yandabo

      Arrive in Yandabo where in 1826, the peace treaty ending the First Anglo-Burmese war was signed. Now famous for its pottery, stroll through the village and witness the craftsmen honing their craft and observe their unusual way of firing the pottery. En-route to Bagan, stop off at the traditional riverside village of Schwe Pyi Thar. As the day progresses, enjoy demonstrations about the traditional dress Longyi and the time-honoured face decoration that is Thanaka. Tonight enjoy a Myanmar themed dinner.

    • Day 7 - Bagan

      Optional Hot Air Balloon Flight
      Book a hot air balloon flight over the majestic temples of Bagan. Flights last approximately 45 minutes and must be pre-booked. (Note: available only from late- October to late-March; all flights weather permitting).


      Venture to Mount Popa, home to Myanmar’s nats, before heading to a Toddy Farm where a traditional lunch awaits. Alternatively, explore the sights of the Temple Circuit and Nyaung U, plus the Laquerware Museum and workshop, or visit Old Bagan where the largest concentration of temples are located.

      Afterwards visit the most iconic sight in this hypnotic region, the Ananda Temple, before making your way to Shwesandaw Pagoda and Dhammayangyi Temple.


      Travel to Clay Pot Mountain and indulge in a relaxing drink away from the crowds while soaking up magical views and grandeur over the Bagan plain.

    • Day 8 - Bagan > Salay

      Visit Ananda Temple where we will meet horse carts to ride to Mingalarzedi Pagoda. Afterwards visit a local lacquerware workshop and enjoy a demonstration.


      A local village monastery will invite you to attend a delicious afternoon tea event. Savour the traditional fares on offer, meet the village locals and observe the area’s unique way of life.

    • Day 9 - Magwe

      Explore Magwe by trishaw to visit Mya Tha Lun Pagoda.

    • Day 10 - Thayetmyo

      Cruise to Thayetmyo, which once marked the border between Royal and British Burma. In this quaint port town visit the oldest golf course in Myanmar, admire the region’s old colonial buildings and explore the local market.

    • Day 11 - Pyay (Prome)

      Berth in Pyay. Begin with a visit to Shwesandaw Pagoda which contains a series of five terraces. In the afternoon explore Sri Ksetra, one of the ancient Pyu Kingdoms that flourished between 200 B.C. and 900 A.D. and became Myanmar’s first World Heritage-listed site in June 2014. Later, enjoy a farewell dinner back on board.

    • Day 12 - Disembark Cruise – Yangon

      Disembark and drive to Yangon, stop at Htaukkyant Allied War Cemetery. Enjoy a city tour before your two night special stay.

    • Day 13 - Yangon

      Shop at Bogyoke Aung San Market. Alternatively, tour Yangon’s art scene, or explore Dhala village.

      Explore the cobbled streets of Yangon, the Kandawgyi Lake and Chaukhtatgyi Paya, Yangon’s reclining Buddha.


      Wander through Shwedagon Pagoda and learn about the ritual of ‘oil lamp lighting’.

      Savour tonight’s farewell dinner.
