    Explore the bustling capital of Lima then travel across the Andes and visit Arequipa. Stand in awe before Colca Canyon, which is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. The Belmond Andean Explorer two day luxurious rail journey across the Andes will be a highlight. Delve into Peru’s Sacred Valley and the Lares region and discover the culture, arts and cuisine of the many remarkable communities that make the valley their home.       Welcome to colourful Peru where you start your journey into wonder with a two night stay in Lima.

    • Day 2 - Lima

      Enrich: Peruvian dinner

      Founded by the Spaniard Francisco Pizarro in 1535, follow in his footsteps to uncover Lima’s colonial history and then visit Museo Larco to view their private collection.

    • Day 3 - Lima> Arequipa
      Highlights:
      Enrich: Incan Ice Maiden

      Fly to the colonial city of Arequipa, sitting at the foot of the extinct El Misti volcano. The city has fine Spanish buildings and many old and interesting churches built of sillar, a pearly white volcanic material almost exclusively used in the construction of Arequipa. Stay for two nights.

      This morning take a walking tour of the historic centre and visit the Santa Catalina convent, closed to the public until 1970, where you will gain insight into the secluded lives of the nuns. Tonight learn how to make the famous drink Pisco sour, with a private demonstration and a tapas-style dinner.

      Take a picturesque drive through valleys and across the Andes to Colca Canyon for a two night stay.

      An early start to travel to the Mirador Cruz del Condor viewpoint will be rewarded with the sight of the Andean condor rising on the thermal air currents with the stunning backdrop of terraced canyon hillsides.

      Disembark and say farewell to the crew as you travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas for three days of exploration. See the traditional weavers at Awanakancha textile centre and encounter llamas up close before visiting colourful Pisac market. Stay overnight at your first of three different lodge stays.

      Daily excursions and activities

      Explore the town of Lamay and tour the Ancasmarca Incan ruins. This afternoon choose an activity that best suits your style, all escorted by the exploration team. From visiting the weaving community of Choquecancha or a more active hike to Huacahuasi, you will encounter the culture and majestic beauty of this undiscovered region. Enjoy your second lodge stay.

    • Day 11 - Sacred Valley

      Daily excursions and activities

      This morning visit the community before choosing your activity. For a relaxing day visit a local farmers market and a cultural museum or take an easy bike ride through the valley. For the more active, enjoy a full day hike from Huacahuasi to Patacancha. Tonight is your final lodge stay in the Sacred Valley.

      The more active can choose an early morning hike to the Incan storage facilities. Explore the Incan ruins towering over the village of Ollantaytambo with your local guide. This afternoon take a rail journey to Machu Picchu for an overnight stay.

      A city like no other, Cuzco is the former capital of the Incan Empire and a city with incredible architecture resulting from a combination of Incan and Spanish colonial styles. It is also the modern day capital of the Andean Highlands and an important commerce centre. On your walking tour you will uncover the history of this World Heritage-listed Site. Your final stop will be the imposing ruins of Sacsayhuamán fortress.
