22 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Zurich

    Welcome to Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, where you’ll start your journey with an overnight stay at your luxurious hotel. Named the city with the best quality of life in the world and the commercial and cultural centre of Switzerland, this afternoon join your local guide for an exploration of the city including the Bahnhofstrasse and the historic Fraumünster Church where you can admire the spectacular Stained Glass windows designed by world renowned artist Marc Chagall. Please book flights to arrive into Zurich by Midday for a 2pm guided city tour.

  2. Day 2 - Zurich > Lugano

    This morning, journey to Lucerne where your Tour Director will take you on an orientation tour of this picturesque city. Cross the medieval Chapel Bridge to the ornate Jesuit Church and wander past numerous fountains, squares and historic buildings before some time at leisure to explore further. This afternoon embark on a Scenic train journey on the Gotthard Panorama Express from Flüelen towards Lugano. From your first class seat enjoy the many magnificent and diverse views, from snow-capped mountains and lush green landscapes to tropical Palm trees.
    This afternoon you will arrive into Lugano, where you will stay two nights. Although in Switzerland, the city offers a unique Italian flair with the culture and language influenced by its nearest neighbour.

  3. Day 3 - Lugano

    Located on the shores of Lake Lugano surrounded by impressive mountains, the city is a sight to behold. Your local guide will escort you through the city's lively squares, lakeside promenades and Old town. Spend the rest of your day at leisure exploring the many highlights of this spectacular region.

  4. Day 4 - Lugano > St. Moritz

    The highlight of your day will be a delightful journey on the Bernina Express towards the mountain village of St. Moritz. Cross the Bernina Pass before arriving into the exclusive resort town of St. Moritz, nestled in the Engadine Valley. Enjoy an overnight stay.

  5. Day 5 - St. Moritz > Zermatt

    Today a special treat awaits. Board the Glacier Express for possibly the world’s most breath-taking mountain rail journey. Travel in comfort through the unspoilt natural beauty of a landscape rich in ancient mountain forests, peaceful alpine meadows, rushing mountain streams and valleys, soaked in tradition and centuries old culture. Journey through the Albula Pass and over the impressive Landwasser viaduct and enjoy lunch on board bound for the traffic-free ski resort of Zermatt. For the next two nights you will enjoy typical Swiss hospitality at a family run hotel.

  6. Day 6 - Zermatt

    Zermatt is located at the north end of a hanging valley with breath-taking views of the surrounding peaks and this morning you will bear witness to some of the most spectacular views as you ascend the Swiss Alps by rail to Gornergrat. A highlight will be the Swiss Icon, the Matterhorn.
    This afternoon take in the fresh mountain air as you wander the winding alleys of this traditional chalet filled village at your own pace.

  7. Day 7 - Zermatt > Lausanne

    Leaving this alpine paradise behind we continue to the equally picturesque city of Lausanne, set on the shores of Lake Geneva. This afternoon you will have time to wander the streets, perhaps stroll the tree lined lake side promenade or venture to the Old Town where buildings dating back to the middle Ages line the streets. Overlooking Lake Geneva, your accommodation is the perfect location for your two night stay in Lausanne.

  8. Day 8 - Lausanne

    Just outside of Lausanne is the Lavaux wine region and this morning you have the opportunity to discover this region at a delicious wine tasting at a local vineyard. Alternatively, journey to the town of Vevey, home to Charlie Chaplin once he’d fled the United States. Learn about one of the 20th century’s most celebrated artists during a visit to the Chaplin’s World Museum.

  9. Day 9 - Lausanne > Montreux > Interlaken

    This morning take a short journey to Montreux and enjoy some free time to explore the highlights of the city before boarding the Golden Pass train. Pass by lush green rolling hills, crystal blue lakes and soaring mountain peaks bound for the beautiful city of Interlaken. As its name suggests, Interlaken lies between the two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz in the foothills of the Alps and you will have the perfect base to enjoy this region with a two night stay.

  10. Day 10 - Interlaken

    Today you will get to enjoy the spectacular views from the Top of Europe. Start your journey on the Bernese Oberland Railway and ascend the mountain toward the Jungfraujoch where a 360 degree panorama will take your breath away. After time to explore all the Jungfraujoch has to offer we will start our descent stopping along the way in the charming alpine village of Grindelwald.

  11. Day 11 - Interlaken > Bern > Zurich

    This morning we will return back to Zurich, stopping along the way in the Swiss capital of Bern. Your Tour Director will give you an orientation tour of this well preserved medieval city that is situated on the banks of the River Aare. Back in Zurich check into your hotel before free time to explore the multitude of cafes, boutique shops and museums on offer.

  12. Day 12 - Zurich > Paris

    Today join your included flight to Paris where you will embark your Scenic Space-Ship for your journey along the Seine river.

  13. Day 13 - Les Andelys

    Enjoy the opulent amenities of your floating hotel as you glide peacefully through the Île-de-France region to Les Andelys.

    Join a hike with a difference and visit King Richard the Lionheart’s Château Gaillard, or journey to Lyons la Forêt, one of the most beautiful villages of France, and visit a local farm to sample cider, the region’s specialty. Alternatively, join your local guide for a walking tour of the quaint village of Les Andelys, or take a bicycle tour through this beautiful village, set on the banks of the Seine.

  14. Day 14 - Rouen

    Enjoy a walking tour of Rouen, the capital of the Normandy region. Take in the famous sites relating to Joan of Arc and the historic Rouen Cathedral. Walk the winding medieval laneways and admire the city’s half-timbered houses. Alternatively, learn about the Viking Warlord Rollo ‘The walker’ who will host a guided walking tour through the medieval lanes of Rouen.

    This evening, a local patissier will come on board with a selection of their finest desserts for your dining pleasure.  This region is also the gateway to the historic Western Front, and after dinner you’re able to gain fascinating insights into the Somme Battlefields with a fascinating lecture to learn about what life was like for a soldier during WWI.

  15. Day 15 - Rouen

    Get a glimpse of what the Somme battlefields might have been like for those caught up in this terrible World War I battle, which claimed the lives of more than 150,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers. This full-day excursion commemorates the 103 years since. You may choose to visit the Australian National Memorial, containing the newly built Sir John Monash Centre as well as the Caterpillar Valley Memorial, dedicated to the New Zealand citizens who perished during the Battle of the Somme or, opt to visit the Lochnagar Crater, the Newfoundland memorial park and the Thiepval memorial. Alternatively, explore the collection of impressionistic paintings, including masterpieces by Renoir and Monet, at the Museum of Fine Arts, which was founded by Napoleon Bonaparte.

  16. Day 16 - Rouen > Honfleur

    Relax on board as you cruise toward the open waters of the English Channel.

    Explore Honfleur, with its quaint architecture, relaxed coastal atmosphere and colourful fishing boats bobbing up and down on its waters. Alternatively, immerse yourself in the beautiful La Côte Fleurie region on France’s northern beaches and discover dashing Deauville, playground of the rich and famous.

    Back on board, kick up your heels on the dance floor as a fabulous local swing band performs the best of the 1920s in the Panorama Lounge tonight.

  17. Day 17 - Honfleur

    Walk the historic Normandy beaches, the site of the D-Day landings, before visiting the Landing Museum at Arromanches. You’ll be struck by the sombre ambience surrounding the 9,387 graves of the Normandy Cemetery. From here you have two options, take a moment to reflect on the momentous impact of that day, as you look out from your hilltop position above Omaha Beach or visit the Juno Beach Centre, a museum that focuses on the Canadian war effort. Alternatively, learn about history of a different era and visit the Bayeux Tapestry, a hand embroidered masterpiece that depicts the tales of the Norman conquest of England and dates back to the 11th century.

  18. Day 18 - Honfleur > Caudebec-en-Caux

    Visit Fécamp and its mighty palace. Situated in spectacular surrounds, the city’s natural setting contrasts perfectly with its architectural centrepiece, the Benedictine Palace. Or, sitting proudly atop dramatic seascape is the town of Étretat, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour and time at leisure. With steep limestone cliffs that plunge dramatically towards the emerald waters of the English Channel below, the beauty of the Alabaster Coast will leave you breathless. Alternatively, travel to the hilltop village of Bolbec and view fabrics at the fascinating Textile Museum before visiting a traditional Normandy farm nearby. For the more adventurous, join a guided cycling tour to the charming village of Villequier and visit the Victor Hugo Museum.

  19. Day 19 - Vernon

    In a region rich in visual treasures, enjoy a full morning of relaxation and take in the incredible scenery as you cruise into Vernon. It’s easy to understand why this region of France inspired beautiful paintings by many of history’s most famous artists.

    Visit Giverny and Monet’s former residence and gardens. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can explore by bike with a self-guided cycling tour that starts in Vernon. You can also discover Vernon with Scenic Tailormade at your own pace.

  20. Day 20 - Conflans > Paris

    Cruise to the charming medieval town of Conflans, with its distinctive barge houses docked within reach of the quaint main square.

    Discover the charms of Auvers-sur-Oise and see Vincent van Gogh’s room, or step inside the magnificent Chantilly Castle for a guided tour of this remarkable château, set amidst beautiful parklands. Alternatively, visit the great stables on the grounds of Chantilly, essentially a palace for the horses living on the estate. The stables also house a museum dedicated to the relationship between man and horse throughout time. Or you may choose to visit Château de Malmaison for a guided tour. Once owned by Empress Joséphine and her husband Napoleon I of France, the estate has been restored to its former glory and is considered to be of significant historical importance.

    After a leisurely afternoon of cruising, the evening will see us returning to Paris, the ‘city of light’, and you’ll have the chance to view the beautiful illuminated skyline, and the soaring Eiffel Tower.

  21. Day 21 - Paris

    It’s your choice today to either spend time exploring France’s most celebrated city or embark on a discovery beyond the city limits.

    Shop with a Chef when you visit one of Paris’ local food markets and enjoy exquisite tastings, or walk through the trendy Marais district with a resident expert and hear tales that only the locals know. Or, you may wish to explore beyond Paris and tour the 17th century estate of Château Vaux-le-Vicomte, Louis XIV’s inspiration for Versailles Palace. Alternatively, admire the extravagance and grandeur of the famous Opera Garnier on a guided tour. From the ornately decorated theatre to the opulent chandeliers and the ceiling painted by Chagall, the interior of this building will take your breath away.
