20 Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1 - Havana

    Step back in time and welcome to Havana where your journey into wonder begins with a warm greeting by the crew as you step on board Scenic Eclipse. Raise your glass this evening as you are entertained by a performance of Cuban music and dance. The overnight stay allows time at leisure for you to explore by day and by night. Please book your flight to arrive prior to 1pm.

  2. Day 2 - Havana

    Havana is a fascinating city with a faded façade that is the perfect start to your cruise.

    Take a walking tour of Old Havana, follow in the footsteps of Hemingway or visit the house of the artist Fuster. Alternatively, learn about the Cuban staples of rum and cigars or take a ride in a 1950’s vintage car on a panoramic tour of the city.

  3. Day 3 - Maria la Gorda

    Today visit the World Heritage-listed biosphere reserve of Península de Guanahacabibes and the stunning beaches of Maria La Gorda.

    Take a walking tour of the national park or take a bird watching tour. Alternatively explore the nearby pristine Cabo Saint Antonio National Park.

    Take a Scenic Discovery excursion hiking in the national park or a kayak excursion along the coastline.

  4. Day 4 - Cienfuegos

    Founded by French emigrees, Cienfuegos is known as the ‘pearl of the south’.

    This evening at the historical Teatro Tomás Terry witness a moving gospel choir performance.

    With an overnight stay you will have plenty of time to experience the charms of this small city and discover the local music scene.

  5. Day 5 - Cienfuegos

    Visit a local artist’s studio and witness some entertaining street performers.

    Take a walking tour of the historic centre or discover Jardín Botánico. Alternatively, visit Playa Girón and the museum for the Bay of Pigs skirmish.

  6. Day 6 - At sea

    Take a tour of the island.

  8. Day 8 - Puerto Limón

    Explore the Veragua Rainforest or visit the Jaguar Rescue Centre and the Sloth Sanctuary. Alternatively, take a highlights tour including the Tortuguero Canals or visit a banana and coffee plantation.

  9. Day 9 - Portobelo

    Portobelo on the coast of Panama was an important port during the time of the Spanish conquistadors.

    Travel on the Trans Isthmus Railway to visit the Museum of the Canal or explore the World Heritage-listed ruins of Fort San Lorenzo.  Alternatively tour the World Heritage-listed Casco Viejo historic centre.

  10. Day 10 - San Blas Islands

    Spend the day relaxing in this archipelago, home to the Guna people and surrounded by crystal clear water and coral reefs swarming with marine life, pristine sandy beaches and coconut palms.

    Scenic Discovery excursions are available from snorkelling, paddling by kayak to relaxing on a beach with a chef-prepared picnic.

  11. Day 11 - Cartagena

    Take a walking tour of the colonial centre, or discover Mercado Bazurto and join a cooking class. Alternatively enjoy a rum and chocolate tasting experience.

    Spend the day relaxing in this beautiful archipelago surrounded by clear water and coral reefs swarming with marine life, pristine sandy beaches and coconut palms.

  13. Day 13 - Panama Canal

    One of life’s great experiences is to transit the Panama Canal, one of the world’s key strategic artificial waterways. From Gatun Lake to the Pacific Ocean, the full day journey through the Isthmus of Panama is 77 kilometres long and will take you through three locks where Scenic Eclipse will descend 27 metres. Enjoy this experience from any vantage point on board Scenic Eclipse; from one of the viewing decks to the privacy of your suite’s verandah, it is sure to be a memorable experience.

  14. Day 14 - Darién National Park

    World Heritage-listed Darién National Park is only accessible by water on a small ship. A natural bridge spanning the two Americas, it houses a myriad of habitats, ranging from rocky coastlines to sandy beaches and mangroves, and is one of the few remaining examples in the world of a protected area inhabited by humans.

    On your Scenic Discovery excursion venture up the Mogue River to find the Embera Indians who will take you into the heart of the jungle on their traditional boats. Spot some of the rare, endangered species endemic to the park including the Black-headed Spider Monkey, the Capybara and American Crocodile.

  15. Day 15 - Isla Gorgona

    Located off the coast of Colombia, this tiny World Heritage-listed atoll has been transformed from a former island prison to a wildlife sanctuary. Onshore you will discover monkeys, caimans, a myriad of bird species including the blue-footed booby, the magnificent frigate birds and the endemic anole, the world’s only pure blue lizard. The deep blue waters and coral reefs around the island host an abundance of marine life, from inquisitive dolphins and porpoises to a possible glimpse of the majestic sperm whales.

    Take a walk across the island with your local guide discovering the fauna and flora of the rainforest or walk to Yundigua beach and snorkel the pristine reefs and waters with your guide in search of marine life.

  18. Day 18 - Salaverry

    Salaverry is the gateway to the cultural capital of Peru, picturesque Trujillo and the amazing ruins of Chan Chan the largest earthen city of pre-Columbian America.

    Discover the sacred adobe temples, the Pyramid of the Sun and Moon or explore the amazing World Heritage-listed site of Chan Chan. Or you may choose to tour the charming colonial city of Trujillo.

    Witness a Peruvian music and dance performance.

    This evening there is time to discover the ambience of Trujillo at your leisure.

  19. Day 19 - Isla Guanape

    Lying off the Pacific Ocean coast of Peru this small island chain is a wildlife refuge and home to large colonies of inquisitive Southern sea lions and hundreds of seabirds including Humboldt penguins, pelicans and boobies.

    Take a Scenic Discovery excursion by kayak to a nature walk to explore these wildlife rich islands.
