On Board Scenic Eclipse
Q. Will newspapers be provided on board?
A. Yes, newspapers will be provided electronically.
Q. Can I be contacted on the ship if needed?

If friends or family need to contact you while you are travelling, they can reach you through the ships satellite phone. Please note: charges will apply and there may be limited reception when cruising through remote areas.

Q. Does Scenic Eclipse have a laundry on board?
A. Scenic Eclipse is equipped with a free self-service laundry located on Deck 3. It features washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards and is available 24 hours.
Q. Can I reserve a table in the speciality restaurants prior to my voyage?
A. Reservations may only be made on board with the restaurant manager on embarkation day or with your butler.
Q. Are dining tables and seating times assigned?
A. Scenic Eclipse offers Freechoice dining during a designated time based on the days program and scheduled excursions.
Q. Are tables for two available?
A. Guests can request to be accommodated at tables of two. This is a request only and needs to be made on board with the restaurant manager on embarkation day or with your butler. These requests are better accommodated in the smaller venues.
Q. What power outlets are in my suite?
A. The on board electricity is 220 volt/60 Hz. Your suite is equipped with Schuko power sockets, international power sockets (multi-sockets) and USB type-A sockets. Additionally, one 110v/60 Hz United States type power socket is provided in every cabin together with a shaver Schuko.
Q. Is there Unlimited Wi-Fi on board?
A. Complimentary Internet facilities are available and Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the ship for your personal electronic devices. We cannot guarantee the availability or quality of the internet connections as this may vary according to destination and weather. Please note service will be limited in Polar and remote regions. Some sites also may not be accessible due to Scenic firewall/company protection.
Q. Are drones permitted?
A. Use of drones is not permitted on board Scenic Eclipse.
Q. What is the dress code?

When you are relaxing on board, the dress code is smart casual and comfortable. Do not forget your swimsuits and exercise attire for the heated pools and plunge pools, the wellness areas and the gym, yoga and Pilates studio.

For evenings, while there are no formal nights, the recommended on board dress code is elegant casual for most restaurants. Suggested attire for women includes a dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse, for men, trousers / pants and a collared shirt. A tie and jacket are optional, but not required.

Q. Can you accommodate for special dietary requirements?
A. Yes, in most cases we are able to accommodate special requirements. Please provide as much detail as possible prior to your cruise departure of your dietary requirements to the Scenic Reservations team, or your travel agent.
Q. What language is spoken on board?
A. The official language spoken on board is English. All officers, staff and crew as well as local guides and regional specialists speak fluent English. All announcements and lectures will be presented in English.
Q. What is the on board currency?
A. The on board currency is US Dollars.
Q. Are credit cards accepted on board?
A. Mastercard and Visa credit cards are accepted. Unfortunately, Debit Cards or Traveller’s cheques are not accepted.
Q. Can I pay with cash on board?
A. USD cash payments will be accepted at the Guest Services. Cash payments made in AUD, NZD, GBP and CAD will be exchanged into USD before settling a guest account. No coins will be accepted, apart from USD coins.
Polar Clothing
Q. What do I need to pack for polar regions?

To ensure you are properly outfitted for your polar cruise, Scenic will provide you with a complimentary polar parka on selected voyages. You will receive your parka when you embark your cruise and is yours to keep as a memento. You will also have complimentary use of polar boots for the cruise duration. In addition to these items, it is imperative that you bring your own waterproof trousers. Scenic has partnered with a leading adventure clothing outfitter and you can now purchase or hire your expedition clothing online. Please note costs are applied in US dollars. Q. What if guests shoe size is smaller/larger than the sizes on the chart?
A. As we can only carry limited sizing’s, guests who may not fit into standard size boots, will need to provide their own boots. To keep feet warm, we recommend to look for insulated polar boots.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Q. What time does embarkation start?
A. Embarkation takes place from 14:00 to 16:00
Q. Who do I contact if my flight is delayed on embarkation day?
A. Your documentation will contain contact details for our local Scenic representative and Port Agent for the region in which you are travelling.
Q. What is the address for my embarkation pier?
A. Pier locations will be outlined in your documentation.
Q. What time does disembarkation start?
A. All guests must check out of their suites no later than 08:30; guests can remain in the public areas but need to disembark the ship by 09:30 at the latest. Further information will be provided towards the conclusion of your voyage.
Q. Can I book a Helicopter and Submarine excursion?
A. Discovery experiences can only be booked at the Excursion Centre on board and are subject to availability, regulatory approval and prevailing weather, marine and ice conditions and may be cancelled at short notice. We cannot guarantee availability, even if you have made an on board reservation. Some activities require a minimum and maximum number of participants to operate.
Q. Can I bring my camera?
A. Absolutely! You are welcome to bring your smartphone, photo or video camera with you during your submarine excursion. Please do set your electronic devices to flight mode, where possible. 
Q. Is it safe?
A. The safety and peace of mind of our passengers is absolutely paramount. Scenic Neptune is equipped with a multitude of safety systems and features. For example, the sub is positively buoyant and will automatically float to the surface in the highly unlikely event of a power failure. 
In addition to the above, Scenic Neptune is certified by world-leading classification society DNV GL after successfully completing a rigorous compliance and safety test program.  
Q. How do I get into the sub
A. On the day of your submarine excursion, you will board a transfer boat after attending an allimportant safety briefing on board Scenic Eclipse. The transfer boat will bring you to the dive location where Scenic Neptune is waiting for you. The pilot will assist you in stepping onto the top deck of the sub, from where you will climb down through the hatch opening and take a seat.  
Don’t worry about which seat to pick! There is no “back seat” in Scenic Neptune. All passenger seats are equally well-placed for optimal viewing, thanks to the unique revolving interior.  
Q. How do I join?
A. A briefing will be organized for all guests at earliest opportunity after embarking Scenic Eclipse, during which the sign up procedures will be explained (participants will be required to sign a Waiver and Indemnity). Only after this briefing limited slots will be opened up for the submarine excursion.
Q. How does the sub work?
A. Scenic Neptune is positively buoyant under all conditions, which means that she naturally floats. Her diving tanks are filled with air at the surface to provide stability and sufficient height from the waterline for safe boarding. To descend, the pilot releases air from these diving tanks such that they are filled with water. Only by using the sub’s vertical thrusters (motors) will Scenic Neptune start to dive. 
Throughout the dive, the air-conditioned environment in the sub is maintained at the same atmospheric pressure as when at the surface so there are no effects of pressure change on the body, unlike in SCUBA diving. 
Scenic Neptune’s lithium-polymer battery technology ensures outstanding endurance, and no potential impact on the marine environment from burning fuel or fuel spills.
Q. How many times will I get to go on a submarine excursion?
A. This is a hard question to answer; it will be determined by how many people are interested in joining the excursion and in the amount of opportunities that become available throughout the voyage. Chances to dive are dictated largely by the day’s destination and by the weather and/or ice conditions. 
We will do our best to ensure most voyages offer at least one day of submarine excursions. 
Q. If I sign up for the submarine excursion, do I have to go?
A. If you’d rather participate in any of the other activities on the day and time of the submarine excursion, your seat will go to the next guest on the waiting list. We’ll place your name at the bottom of the list should you wish to be called for a later opportunity. 
Bookings cancelled within 24 hours of a scheduled excursion are non-refundable. 
Q. Is there a minimum number of participants?
A. A minimum of 5 passengers per excursion is required for an excursion to be confirmed. 
Q. What do I need to prepare?
A. In general passengers should avoid light-colored clothing to minimize reflection on the acrylic spheres of the sub, and all metal and sharp objects such as watches and jewelry should be removed or covered. Guests will be briefed prior to each excursion on expected weather conditions and appropriate clothing. 
Scenic Neptune is equipped with air conditioning to maintain temperature and humidity at a comfortable level, however the rule of thumb is to dress for the weather and to dress in layers depending on your personal needs.   
Q. What if the submarine excursion is cancelled?
A. We will do our utmost to offer you the opportunity to enjoy a submarine experience during your voyage. However, inclement weather conditions or other safety concerns may lead to cancelled excursions. Best efforts will be made to provide guests with advance notice of cancellations, where possible.
Q. What will I see?
A. The possibilities are endless – witness wildlife in their natural habitats, explore kaleidoscopic coral reefs, discover majestic shipwrecks, navigate sheer walls and volcanic pinnacles, or throw yourself into the mysteries of the deep as you venture into uncharted submarine landscapes.
Q. Who can join?
A. • All submarine passengers must be over the age of 12. 

•The combined weight of all six passengers shall not exceed 600 kg (1322 lbs).

•All submarine passengers must have the strength and ability to board the submarine without assistance. No mobility aids are allowed.

• All submarine passengers must have a full understanding of the English language, as all briefings and instructions will be given in English.

• Guests who are pregnant are not allowed to take part in the submarine excursion.

• Guests with claustrophobia are advised not to participate.

• Guests who are suffering from conditions such as epilepsy/seizures, fainting, etc, are not allowed to take part in the submarine excursion.

Q. Who will be our pilot?
A. The safe operation of Scenic Neptune requires a pilot in the sub and a surface officer, who is often also a trained pilot, aboard a dedicated support boat. The support boat tracks the sub underwater and communication between the surface and sub is maintained throughout the dive.  
You will meet our sub pilots on board Scenic Eclipse.  
Q. Will I get claustrophobic?
A. Scenic Neptune’s acrylic spheres are constructed from a material which has the same refraction index as seawater, therefore it visually disappears underwater and provides a very open and spacious feeling.
Port information
Q. Will tenders be used at my port of call?
A. A mix of docking in port, as well as tenders and zodiacs will be used for most voyages. Further information will be provided in your documentation
Health and Medical
Q. Do I need a medical certificate to take a cruise?
A. In order for us to ensure your comfort and safety, all guests need to complete an online medical form, which will be available 90 days prior to sailing.
Q. What are the medical services on board?

For your peace of mind, Scenic Eclipse is equipped with a medical centre offering primary care, staffed by a doctor on call at all times. You must advise us prior to finalising your booking of any pre-existing medical conditions that might increase your risk of requiring medical attention, affecting the normal conduct of the cruise and / or the enjoyment of other cruise guests.

It is important to note, however, that there are no hospitals or doctors available in polar and remote regions, and emergency evacuation is extremely difficult and expensive.

Cruising conditions can be unpredictable and rough waters may be encountered at any time. If you suffer from sea sickness, please consult your Medical Practitioner prior to your cruise and carry the recommended preventative medications at all times. Our resident medical team are available to assist you with additional medication and services if required, with any relevant payments charged to your on board account.

Children Policy
Q. Are Children welcome on board?
A. Luxury expedition style cruising is not recommended for children under 12. Guests under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult and must share their accommodation with an adult. No children programs or babysitting services are available on board.
Q. Can I add additional nights before/after my cruise?
A. In most cities, we offer city stay packages or pre/post cruise nights. Please contact the Scenic Reservations team, or your travel agent.
Q. Can I pre-arrange my spa appointments?
A. Spa appointments are at an additional expense and may only be booked on board.
Smoking Policy
Q. What is the smoking policy?
A. Scenic Eclipse is a non-smoking vessel in all public areas. There is a designated outside smoking area for guests. All suites, including suite veranda’s and terraces are non-smoking.
Visitor Policy
Q. What is the Scenic Eclipse visitor policy?
A. In selected ports on request, visitors may be allowed on board. Visitation is not permitted on embarkation and disembarkation day. A visitor form is to be completed prior to the cruise. The guests will be informed once approved. Visitors will receive a visitor pass at ship’s gangway after they provide photo identification. Visitors will need to be accompanied at all times.
